Dear Supporters
An easy and delicious way to raise funds for the Jamboree!

Order now and you'll get your puds in late September - just in time for Christmas (so we get the max discount)

We’ve got The Ultimate Plum Pudding - one of the finest Christmas puddings you can buy. It has been endorsed by the BBC Good Food Magazine and by Chef magazine as being as good as the best home made and has won a food ‘Oscar’ – a gold award at the Great Taste Awards.

The pudding is made by a small craft manufacturer in Cumbria and it’s absolutely gorgeous. All the vine fruits are soaked overnight in lots of brandy and dry sherry. Fresh breadcrumbs and freshly grated carrot help give the pudding a lighter texture. Ingredients are top quality and much more varied than usual – almonds, walnuts, stem ginger, apricots, cherries as well as the best, juicily alcoholic, raisins and sultanas. We asked why there are no currants and were told – none of us like currants! It’s not steamed until it’s black, caramelised and bitter – it’s light, sweet and aromatic and you can taste every ingredient. Most people have no idea that Christmas pudding can be this good and lots of people enjoy it who ‘don’t like Christmas pudding’.

... it is the best pudding I have ever tasted. We had it with mascarpone and it was wonderful! Thank-you. Ruth Vanner.”

The Ultimate Plum Pudding is not available in supermarkets (the company is too small for that) but it is available through the Shropshire Scout Jamboree Unit. We have had the pudding attractively labelled especially for us. Ordering direct from the manufacturer allows there to be a good profit for us within a price which is competitive with premium retail puddings. A 1lb pudding (serves 4) costs £5.50. A 2lb (serves 8) costs £9.50. There's also an individual 120g pud, great for grandparents, costing £1.75.

It’s a really great pudding – a true highlight for the meal of the year. We’re proud to offer it and know that you’ll love it. Your family and friends will love it (including the vegetarians). It’s so easy to order from us AND it raises money towards the Jamboree!

Can we also tempt you to a jar of the Ultimate Brandy Butter? Maximum brandy – any more and it splits! Good unsalted butter. Velvety texture with just a little crunch. Fantastic but problematical – it disappears straight from the jar! £2.40 for 190g . Ingredients: unsalted butter, sugar, brandy, nutmeg.

The Ultimate CHOCOLATE Pudding
From the same manufacturer we have another very special pudding. Again the packaging will be personalised for us and all profits will go towards Jamboree.

This pudding has won a Great Taste Award in the Chocolate desserts section. The 290g pudding serves 4 and reheats in seconds. This is how our friends at the Ultimate Plum Pudding Company describe it:

“Just as our Christmas pudding is very, very special this is no ordinary chocolate pudding. When we developed it we wanted a light but substantial texture so we made a basic sponge with all the right things - good, unsalted butter, free range eggs and so on, and then, in great English pudding tradition, we added fresh breadcrumbs and ground almonds. Most of all we wanted it as lusciously chocolatey as we could make it so we used lots of dark, melted Belgian chocolate; superb, dark, French cocoa powder; liquid alcoholic chocolate in the form of crème de cacao and we studded it with dark chocolate chips just for good measure. Nothing enhances chocolate like brandy so there’s a good dollop of that in there too. It took a lot of versions to get the intensity of flavour and complexity of texture that we were looking for and we are proud of the result of our labours! Served with cream or good vanilla ice cream (or both), it will make a wonderful finale to special family meal.”

The puddings keep for 4 months in a cool dry place or 6 months in a freezer – but why would you want to keep it?It costs £5.50.

The ultimate CITRUS, HONEY & ALMOND
Pudding
The Ultimate Plum Pudding Company explains:

“We make so many puddings for Christmas that as a contrast we wanted to make a really summery pudding – something really redolent of sunshine and warm summers evenings spent sociably eating in the garden. So this is it – bright, sunny citrus and warm, mellow honey in our light, buttery, almond sponge. We haven’t gone for that big citrus zing you get if you add citrus oils because aftertaste matters and we think citrus oils spoil that. So we use orange and lemon zest which we gently poached in organic honey to soften the shreds and remove the bitterness. We make the sponge with unsalted butter, fine caster sugar, free range eggs, flour, fresh breadcrumbs and ground almonds. We love the texture of puddings made with breadcrumbs and ground nuts, much more interesting and satisfying than a plain sponge base. The zest and honey are then added to the sponge along with fresh citrus juice, luscious orange liqueur and a good measure of smooth calvados. Finally we add some toasted almond flakes which complement the sweet, soft, citrussy sponge beautifully. Fabulous, summer sunshine on a plate. Serve with real custard, crème fraiche or the best vanilla ice cream you can find”
The 290g pudding serves 4 and reheats in seconds. It will keep for 6 months in a cool dry place or 9 months in a freezer. Price £5.50.

The Ultimate TRIPLE GINGER Pudding

“Ginger, ginger and more ginger! This one is for enthusiasts. Masses of superb Buderim stem ginger folded into a buttery ginger sponge laced with green ginger wine. Yes it’s lots of ginger, but it’s soft mellow ginger rather than fierce and fiery. The pudding won a Gold Great Taste Award and three of our private label customers have snapped it up – it’s in some very posh Christmas hampers!”

“I HAD DINNER WITH A FRIEND RECENTLY AND SHE SERVED YOUR GINGER PUDDING FOR DESSERT I THOUGHT I HAD DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN .” Hilary Clarke, emailing from Bristol

The 290g pudding serves 4 and reheats in seconds. It will keep for 6 months in a cool dry place or 9 months in a freezer. Price £5.50.
